Clean Out (10/20/2017)

After holding an estate sale (not through Easy Picking), there was still an overwhelming amount of “stuff” in my parents’ house (my parents were not big on throwing things out, and what they saved spanned 60 years).  I was left with the daunting task of finding someone who could do the final clean out.  I found Easy Picking Estate Sales and Nancy Candelaria through an inquiry I posted through estatesales.net.  The reason I chose Nancy was because she shared my perspective of handling the clean out – that not everything is junk to be tossed in a dumpster.  What I so appreciated was that she was willing to separate out items that could be donated and even handle making the donations of clothing, linens and other household goods, and furniture on our behalf.

Nancy initially estimated the clean out could take two days and even arranged the dumpsters.  She and her clean out team arrived on a Friday morning, and after 10-1/2 hours of extremely hard work, they had done the miraculous job of clearing the house and sweeping it clean.  It was amazing.

I highly recommend Easy Picking Estate Sales to anyone needing assistance handling the aftermath of losing loved ones and needing help to deal with all that’s left in a home.  Nancy and her team were a delight to work with.

What to do when you have to liquidate the contents of a three generation home with over 60 years of accumulation,and you live 1000 miles away? I hired Easy Picking Estate Sales in March 2017 to manage the sale of my mother’s estate in her home in Bayonne and also to clean out the house following the sale to enable the property to be sold to a buyer at the end of the month. With no prior “estate sale” experience and living 1700 miles from the house which had been occupied by three generations of my family in Pelham, NY … I found myself in need of a “One-Stop, Turn-Key Solution”. The situation was compounded by years of accrued “family stuff” … most of which I wasn’t sure anyone else would consider valuable.

I began with a web search, candidate liquidator interviews and reference checks. As a consequence, Nancy and Eric were chosen based on high-motivation, understanding “everyday items” which sell, and having a proven marketing methodology and track record.

With my estate sale now thankfully behind us, I can honestly say that their “report card” was more akin to “customer delight”, than simple “customer satisfaction”! “nancy and eric exceeded all expectations for the estate sale at my mother’s home in montclair, new jersey in late dec 2013 (right before the holidays i might add!).   i had spoken to several other companies in the area but when i initially met them at mom’s home, we naturally clicked and i knew i could trust them to handle everything. not only did they do an excellent job prepping the place with little lead time for the 2 day event, but they also sold our steinway grand to a lovely jazz pianist in harlem who will take great care of and treasure playing it. this means the world to me.  even during the busy sale days with lines out the door they were in constant contact with me,  making sure that i was ok with the pricing of big ticket items if a new offer came up.

House Sale (September 20 & 21, 2013)

I hired Eric and Nancy to do an estate sale of my mother in law’s home in Pelham Manor, New York.  Her house was loaded with stuff (most of it junk) as she never discarded anything and was almost impossible to rifle through, so it seemed to me, to determine what was valuable and what was not.  Eric and Nancy came before the sale to set everything up in a meaningful way.  They were very respectful towards the wishes of the family on how to handle the items and gave everything a personal touch.  The sale was successful thanks to their hard work and dedication.  I then hired them for a clean-out and their team removed four floors of the remaining junk that had not been touched for 40 years.  I was so nervous about the clean-out due to the amount of stuff.  But they got it done quickly and efficiently.  I was so overwhelmed at the beginning of this endeavor and so relieved at the end.  The house closed on time and the new buyer is happy.  I am very appreciative and so glad I used them.

House Sale (July 26 & 27, 2013)

As life progresses and it is necessary to continue to move forward there are always difficult decisions and stressful times.

That recently happened to us with my mom moving to an assisted living facility and our need to clean out the house she lived in for over 55 years.

My mom always said it would be a difficult cleanout job, and boy was she right.

We found Easy Picking’s online and arranged an initial meeting.  They arrived at the agreed upon time and explained their services from the estate sale with the option of a total clean out following the sale.

Based on our discussions, as well as their caring attitude and professionalism we decided to use their services for both the estate sale and clean out.

From the initial walk through of the house through the final clean out which left an empty and clean house, we could not be more pleased.

Without going through all details, they respected our need to preserve memories while taking care of items we no longer wanted and everything else.

House Sale (August 1 & 2, 2013)

I was living with my grandmother when she passed last September. In her final Will and Testament, she left me her house and all of its contents. Unfortunately, I was also left with the responsibility of settling her Estate and sorting through 50 years of accumulation. I felt completely overwhelmed and it was extremely difficult for me to decide what to keep, give away, throw out, and/or sell. As hard as I tried, it was physically and emotionally draining. My husband realized that I was struggling and he suggested that we look into hiring a private company to assist with the clean out. Typically, I don’t listen to him, but I felt so defeated that I started researching companies online.

I came across Easy Picking’s website and read through the testimonials. After a few minutes, I realized that they not only did clean outs, but they also did Estate sales. That afternoon, I emailed Nancy to find out more information about the Estate sales and how they were conducted. She got back to me right away and before I knew it, we had set up a consultation.

On the day of the consultation, Nancy and her husband, Eric, arrived promptly at our house. We gave them a tour and showed them some of the pieces that we were looking to sell. Throughout the entire consultation, both Nancy and Eric were personable and professional. They were easy to talk to and were sensitive to our needs. At the end of the consultation, we ended up signing a contract with them and picking the dates for the sale set up. We also chose dates of the actual sale.

As part of the contract, Easy Picking was responsible for obtaining the permit, advertising in the newspaper and online, as well as set-up and clean-up. They took care of virtually everything, including pricing each item.

My husband and I decided to be present in the home for the sale. Again, we witness nothing less than professionalism throughout the entire sale. They were extremely organized and worked together to make sure that the sale went smoothly. They were VERY fair, but firm with their prices and they treated all sale-goers with respect.

Overall, my husband and I were extremely happy and thankful for the Easy Picking crew. Holding the Estate sale with their expertise and assistance was exactly what we needed to move on! Thank you Easy Picking! You are phenomenal!

House Sale (May 4 and 5, 2012)

Nancy and Eric did a great job, and handled an entire estate sale for me while I was working long distance.  When the sale was over, they brought in the clean out team, who cleaned out the left over contents and broom swept the entire property.  I had two vehicles to sell, and the dealers they brought in paid me more than any I could find on my own, even AFTER paying the commission to Easy Picking.

Because I was 3 states away, all the neighbors around the property watched the entire process and reported back to me.   The felt that Nancy and her team were very professional, knew what they were doing, handled traffic appropriately, and were respectful of the neighborhood.
